Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is coming off two of his best seasons as the leader of the Longhorns, securing a spot in the College Football Playoff in both.
In their rankings of the top 25 head coaches in college football, Sarkisian was ranked at No. 4 by On3 Sports.
Ari Wasserman, a writer for On3, provided his reasoning for Sarkisian's ranking, saying that even though "Texas hasn’t won a national title under his leadership, Sarkisian has assembled one of the deepest, most talented rosters in the country."
Steve Sarkisian has been widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the sport since he took over the Texas program back in 2021, leading them to winning records in three of his four years in Austin. It was expected that Texas and Oklahoma would struggle after moving from the Big 12 to the SEC before the 2024 season, but Sarkisian led the team to a 13-3 record and an appearance in the SEC Championship game.
After losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes 28-14 in the Cotton Bowl, Sarkisian and the Longhorns prepare to attack the offseason. Texas will do its best to retool the roster around Arch Manning, who takes over for Quinn Ewers, who declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sarkisian has been a big part of the Texas program since he stepped into the program four years ago, and he will have the team in the thick of the conversation of title contenders for years to come.
