TCU Just Snagged Big-Time Edge

Along with a new contract for Sonny Dykes, it’s been business as usual for TCU football on the recruiting trail.

Four-star EDGE Drake Carroll of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas, committed to the Horned Frogs, 247 reported on Friday in a huge in-state recruiting win by TCU in the Class of 2027.

The Horned Frogs are hot on Carroll despite offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Penn State and Vanderbilt.

As a junior, Carroll tallied 50 tackles (17 for loss), seven sacks and an interception for the Mules last year. His sister, Grace Carroll, recently wrapped her sophomore season on the volleyball team at Baylor.

With Dykes staying right where he is, it makes sense that Carroll would commit to an in-state school with a head coach that he’s watched since before he started high school ball.

That coaching continuity, combined with whatever NIL commitment is coming Dykes’ way, is green territory for anybody looking to make an early commitment in the Class of 2027. There’s still plenty of time for another school to make another push, but as of now Carroll is resting his faith in the Horned Frogs.
