The portal continues to take away pieces of the Tennessee Vols' roster as their playoff game with the Ohio State Buckeyes looms a week away. Tennessee has already lost an eye-opening four wide receivers to the portal this week in Kaleb Webb, Chas Nimrod, Nate Spillman, and Nathan Leacock.
Now, you can add Cameron Seldon to that list. Per a report from VolQuest, the sophomore running back is entering the portal.
Seldon, a 6'2", 222-pound bruiser from Browns Store, Virginia, was one of the more physical runners on the roster. He came to Tennessee in 2023 as a top 100 player and the top overall player in the state of Virginia per 247 Sports.
However, a shoulder injury that required surgery cost him his 2024 offseason. With Dylan Sampson having such a dynamic season, there were less carries than usual to go around for the running backs behind him, and by the end of the season it became clear that he had fallen below DeSean Bishop and Peyton Lewis on the depth chart. Both Bishop (67) and Lewis (54) had more carries than Seldon (23) this season.
Seldon should have a lot of interest from other schools, so we'll see in the coming days where he ultimately ends up. He finished his Tennessee career with 48 carries for 224 yards and a touchdown in 19 games.
