Tennessee Vols offensive lineman David Sanders Jr, a 2025 five-star recruit who signed with UT last month, showed off an unexpected skill at the Polynesian Bowl on Saturday.
At one point during the game, Sanders, who was on the sideline at the time, made an impressive one-handed catch on a pass that was thrown away.

Sanders' size combined with his elite athleticism and his mental approach to the game is what makes him a potential future first round NFL draft selection.
The athleticism was evident on that one-handed grab that looked effortless for the 6-foot-6 offensive lineman.
Could we see Sanders catching passes at Tennessee? Maybe as an eligible tackle on the goal line?
We don't know if that's in the plans for the Vols' offense in 2025, but Sanders certainly seems to approve of the idea.

Maybe Vols head coach Josh Heupel will see that clip and put a goal line package together that features Sanders as a red-zone target for quarterback Nico Iamaleava (it's worth noting that Tennessee's offense had its fair share of struggles in the red zone last season....a few new wrinkles wouldn't be a bad idea).
By the way, this isn't the first time that a Tennessee offensive tackle has flirted with the idea of being a pass catcher.
Former Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright, who was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, hilariously told reporters in 2023, after he was drafted by the Chicago Bears, that he'd be willing to play wide receiver if that's what the coaches wanted him to do.

Five-star offensive linemen are just built different -- both physically and mentally.
