No one knew what to expect from Tennessee Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar this season after he transferred from UCLA to UT in May.
Aguilar had learn the Vols' offense in just a couple of months before winning the starting quarterback job during fall camp.
So far this season, Aguilar has been terrific, leading Tennessee to a 4-1 record while passing for 1,459 yards and 13 touchdowns.
However, not everyone has been as impressed by Aguilar as the fans on Rocky Top have been.
CBS Sports released their updated quarterback power rankings on Wednesday, and Aguilar dropped three spots, from No. 13 to No. 16.
"Aguilar is the sort of gunslinger who is willing and able to take the downfield shots that make Josh Heupel's offense dangerous," wrote CBS Sports' David Cobb. "Tennessee will live with some turnovers if it means having an explosive attack that is capable of quickly altering the complexion of a game."
Aguilar is second in the SEC in passing yards (behind Alabama's Ty Simpson), and he's tied for second in passing touchdowns.
But I guess he still has more work to do to impress the national media. Aguilar will get a chance to boost his stock this weekend in a home matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
