Tennessee Vols transfer addition makes big statement about his new teammates

Tennessee Vols redshirt junior defensive back Jalen McMurray hasn't played in a game yet for UT -- McMurray arrived in Knoxville this offseason after transferring from Temple -- but he's seen enough from his teammates to feel like the program has the best wide receivers in the nation.

McMurray met with reporters last week ahead of the start of the 2024 season and he left no doubt how he feels about Tennessee's wide receiver group.

“I might be biased, but I feel like they’re the best in the nation," said McMurray. "They complement each other so well. They're fast, physical, all of that. From literally to bottom. It's been a challenge (defending against them in practice), but also as a DB room, we've been able to get at them as well. So it's been very good competition throughout camp."

The Vols certainly have a deep and talented group of wide receivers. Squirrel White and Bru McCoy are experienced veterans of Josh Heupel's offense. Tulane transfer Chris Brazzell is a shiny new weapon that could prove to be the top wide receiver in the SEC. Dont'e Thornton has a year of experience under his belt in Heupel's system. Chas Nimrod and Kaleb Webb have quietly improved this offseason. And Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley are extremely talented true freshmen who will provide immediate depth for Tennessee.

Everything is in place for the Vols to have one of the most prolific offenses in the nation in 2024 -- Tennessee just has to go execute on Saturdays.
