The Texas A&M Aggies wide receiving corps continues to make headlines in the early stages of the offseason.
Per reports from Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Texas A&M star receiver Noah Thomas is entering the transfer portal in what marks one of the more notable losses for the Aggies since the regular season ended. Thomas will end his time at A&M tied for eighth in career receiving touchdowns (15).
He is now the fifth receiver to depart from College Station this offseason. Cyrus Allen (Cincinnati), Jacob Bostick (San Diego State) and Micah Tease (Tulsa) have already found new homes. The Aggies have also said goodbye to Moose Muhammad III, who is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Thomas' departure is still a bit surprising despite the transfer portal additions of receivers Mario Craver (Mississippi State), Micah Hudson (Texas Tech) and KC Concepcion (N.C. State). He was likely set to be A&M's No. 1 receiver once again next season after building rapport with Marcel Reed in 2024.
Thomas finished this season with career-high marks in catches (39), receiving yards (574) and receiving touchdowns (eight), all of which led the team. In the 35-31 loss to the USC Trojans in the Las Vegas Bowl, he had five catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns.
He ends his A&M career with 73 receptions for 984 yards and the aforementioned 15 touchdowns while adding four carries for 18 yards.
Whichever team land Thomas will secure one of the best receivers to enter the portal this offseason.

Nico Iamaleava clears the air on decision to transfer to UCLA
The consequences of NIL (name, image and likeness) deals will continue to define the college football season. They embolden student-athletes to utilize the transfer portal to their advantage and encourage programs to pursue top talent through financial incentives. On Thursday, new University of California, Los Angeles quarterback Nico Iamaleava took to the podium for the first time as a Bruin, marking a major shift in how NIL deals can quickly change team dynamics and narratives. Iamaleva, born and raised in Southern California, hadn't spoken publicly since he shockingly transferred from the University of Tennessee in April. At the time, reports suggested he left the school over an NIL dispute where Iamaleava wanted a deal around $4M. He didn't report for spring practice and was then removed from the program. Since then, insiders painted a more complicated picture, indicating that the QB's father complained to the coaching staff that the supporting cast around his son wasn't good enough. "My family was strictly the main importance for me," Iamaleava explained at a news conference. "I let my business team, my parents handle that side of NIL. Just me being closer to family was the most important thing." While Iamaleva spent his time with the press discussing his desire to stay close to his family and his on-field goals, this move can't be decoupled from the NIL aspect. Iamaleva is not set to make a huge payday with UCLA. Of course, if his 2025 season with the Bruins is successful, it would incentivize UCLA to offer him a larger NIL deal that could entice him to stay another year in school. Iamalevea was highly sought after before deciding to go back home. It's no surprise considering his career so far. After being a backup in 2023, he threw for 2,616 yards and 19 touchdowns while leading Tennessee University to the playoffs in 2024, his first year as a starter. Iamaleva has the arm talent and size; he's six feet six inches tall, which is exactly what NFL scouts crave. In the right system, he could have a season that makes draft analysts want to talk about him all season long. For the UCLA coaching staff, that's a level of potential they haven't had in some time. And it's that potential that fuels NIL deals. How Iamaleava performs at UCLA will be closely watched by other student-athletes looking to leverage their talent and secure larger NIL deals or find situations where they can maximize their potential. If Iamaleava plays so well that he makes University of Tennessee officials regret their decision, then it's not hard to see other top talent having more successful NIL negotiations. Student-athletes transferring to play elsewhere has always been a part of college football, but it has never come with financial incentives for both the school and the students. It seems that it's no longer the case that college programs make the talent, but that the talent makes the program.

Longtime Maple Leafs Defenseman in Serious Contract Dispute With His New Team
The longtime former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Conor Timmins is in a serious contract dispute with his new team, the Buffalo Sabres. Nobody appears happy to stay with the Buffalo Sabres organization. Most of the talented players on the team were included in trade or free agency rumors, and now, Timmins doesn't appear too excited to sign with the team. Indeed, the Restricted Free Agent, who was traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Sabres earlier this offseason for Connor Clifton and a second-round pick, isn't close to reaching a deal in Buffalo. With arbitration hearings set to take place over the coming days, Timmins and the Sabres are likely to meet for that reason soon. Unless a deal is reached before then, the hearing will take place on August 2nd. The Ontario native is coming off a rocky season, where he played 51 games for the Leafs and 17 more in Pittsburgh after being traded. In those 68 games, the 26-year-old defenseman tallied 15 points, including three goals. After seeing three players around the NHL reach deals before their hearing date, some fans hoped to see the Sabres and Timmins sign a contract soon, but multiple reports confirmed that there hasn't been any 'traction' between both camps. As of now, five more players are scheduled to have salary hearings. With the Sabres' reputation, it's not surprising to see that he appears reluctant to sign in Buffalo. Hopefully for their fans, massive changes will be done to the team to make sure they can attract top talent and convince them to stay with the team.
Cowboys make questionable move amid Micah Parsons stalemate
The Dallas Cowboys extended one of their stars Sunday, just not the one fans wanted them to pay. At Cowboys training camp Saturday, Dallas fans serenaded owner Jerry Jones with "Pay Micah [Parsons]" chants. The EDGE, of course, is set to play on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract this season. Jones must not have been listening. He gave tight end Jake Ferguson a new contract instead. Dallas and the 26-year-old pass-catcher agreed to a four-year, $52M contract extension, via NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. This move seems head-scratching. Parsons has won the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year and earned two first-team All-Pro nods since the Cowboys took him with pick No. 12 in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 26-year-old EDGE also finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Ferguson, meanwhile, is solid but not elite. In three seasons with the Cowboys, the 2022 fourth-round pick has made one Pro Bowl and has never finished with more than 761 receiving yards in a season. An extension for Parsons will devour future cap space. The Cowboys may be worried about that after giving quarterback Dak Prescott (four years, $240M) and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (four years, $136M) long-term deals in 2024. Pittsburgh Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt signed a lucrative three-year, $123M extension on July 17, making him the league's highest-paid non-QB. Parsons could command a similar contract. If cap space is Dallas' primary concern, however, why would it extend Ferguson? He's now set to be the NFL's seventh-highest-paid TE. The Cowboys waited to extend Lamb and Prescott just before the start of the 2024 season. They may be doing the same with Parsons. The star defender has said, "Ownership is always gonna make [contract negotiations] drag out." Regardless, the Cowboys should've paid Parsons before Ferguson. That's a much bigger priority for the team.

Aaron Rodgers has managed to keep the identity of his new wife a secret, but the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is certainly not hiding his feelings about her. Rodgers spoke about his wife during an interview with NFL Network at Steelers training camp this week. The 41-year-old had no problem being candid about how thankful he is to have met the mystery woman. “When you meet the right one and you’re with the right one, your whole world changes in a second. To have that person that unconditionally loves you behind the scenes, there’s no better feeling in the world,” Rodgers said. “And I’ve got the most incredible wife. I just really love her. I’m so thankful to have her by my side at the end. When you have that stability and that rock behind you at the house, you feel like you can do anything.” Rodgers first revealed in an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” last December that he had a girlfriend named Brittani. We are unsure of the exact spelling of the woman’s name, but Rodgers specified that she was “Brittani with an ‘I’” when he brought it up. Then in April, Rodgers told “The Pat McAfee Show” that he was in a “serious relationship” and had some off-field things consuming him. He had left open the possibility of retiring at the time. Shortly after that, Rodgers was spotted wearing what appeared to be a wedding band on his left ring finger. The former MVP confirmed after signing with the Steelers that he has been married since earlier this year. Rodgers seems determined to have his wife’s identity remain a mystery, but he still wants everyone to know how important she is to his life.
