The No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies are 4-0 for the first time since Kevin Sumlin was in charge, Christian Kirk was starring at receiver and Myles Garrett was making a name for himself.
OK, now that we have that out of the way, head coach Mike Elko thinks fans should be thrilled about his program's start, namely its 16-10 win over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.
Elko made that clear while talking to the media afterward.
"Does anyone want to ask a question about us being 4-0 for the first time since 2016," Elko said. "I don't mean to sound like someone else, but my gosh, would you guys stop being so dreadful and gloomy?"
Elko was referring to LSU head coach Brian Kelly's post-game press conference after a 20-10 win over Florida earlier this month. The Tigers scored just once offensively in that game.
"Just stop. We won the game 20-10. Try another question," Kelly said to a reporter who asked about his offense's struggles. "What do you want me to tell you? I just laid it out for you. We played the game to win the game."
Texas A&M began with four straight wins over No. 16 UCLA, Prairie View A&M, Auburn and No. 17 Arkansas in 2016. The Aggies finished that go-round with a 33-28 loss to Kansas State in the Texas Bowl, dropping them to 8-5 for the campaign.
Texas A&M's win over the Tigers followed victories over UTSA, Utah State and No. 8 Notre Dame.
