Texas coach charged with DWI

It was a great weekend for the Texas Longhorns on the football field last weekend, but things have not gone as smoothly off the field.

First you had Arch Manning having to address his reaction to the AI-produced video of Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and ESPN reporter Holly Rowe. Then you had one of the Texas assistant coaches get busted for DWI.

Sarkisian told reporters during a press conference on Thursday that Johnny Nansen, who serves as a co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the team, was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI).

“We are obviously disappointed, but that’s all I have on that at the time,” Sarkisian said of the incident, via reporter CJ Vogel.

Nansen, 52, has been a coach at Texas since 2024. He and Sarkisian had previous stints working together at both Washington and USC.

Texas is the No. 1-ranked team in both the AP and Coaches Poll. The 2-0 Longhorns are set to face UTSA on Saturday evening at Texas Memorial Stadium.
