Lamar Brown is staying in Louisiana. The highly-touted Class of 2026 trench star, who also had Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns as one of his finalists, chose to join the LSU Tigers on Thursday.
“BREAKING: Five-Star ATH Lamar Brown has Committed to LSU!” Hayes Fawcett wrote on X. “The 6’5 280 ATH from Erwinville, LA chose the Tigers over Texas A&M, Texas, & Miami. He’s ranked as the No. 1 ATH in the ’26 Class (per Rivals). ‘SET IT OFF in the 225.’”
Texas also missed out on another major lineman last week, watching five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo opt for Texas Tech instead.
Brown was a first-team MaxPreps Junior All-American as an offensive lineman last season. He earned the same honor as a sophomore.
“Legitimate high-level two-way prospect as an interior O-lineman or potentially role-versatile front-line defender,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in a scouting report. “Indicates desire to play defense. … Must firmly land in a long-term positional home. That said, projects as a high-major impact player on either side of the ball. Possesses legitimate high-round NFL Draft potential.”
On3’s Pete Nakos reported that NIL did play a part in getting the commitment “across the finish line. Not the reason why he picks the Tigers, but gave him a lot to chew on.”
Brown later took to X to proclaim his decision to play for Brian Kelly is final.
“I’m locked in man ain’t none of that ‘it ain’t over til the ink dry’ everybody had their chance I’m just blessed to be able to call lsu home if you not with us then you TIGER BAIT!!!” Brown said.
