The Texas Longhorns may not be playing an actual spring game this year, but they will offer fans an alternative to interact with football stars like Arch Manning in April.

Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte announced on Wednesday that the program will host a Fan Day at Memorial Stadium on April 26. More details will be released over the next few months, but the free admission event will give fans an opportunity to get signed autographs and photos with players on the team.

This news comes on the heels of head coach Steve Sarkisian announcing last week that Texas will not be playing a spring game this year. He suggested that playing a full game in the spring wasn't optimal in regards to the development of young players joining the roster.

Texas joins a trend of top programs from around the country deciding to nix their spring game this year, raising questions over the future of the offseason custom. Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule recently cited concerns over tampering as the reason for his cancellation of the game, stating that a televised game opens the door for other programs to entice his players to transfer.

Certainly there will be slight disappointment over Longhorns fans to not see their team in action considering the amount of hype that the team is already receiving ahead of the 2025 season. That hype is being driven by quarterback Arch Manning, who will finally take the reins as the starter after backing up Quinn Ewers for two seasons.

It was at last year's spring game where Manning threw three touchdown passes, giving fans a brief taste of what could potentially be coming this fall. Instead, the UT faithful can get a picture and an autograph from the young phenom in April.
