The No. 5 seed Texas Longhorns saw their season end Friday in a 28-14 loss to No. 8 Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
Since the loss, Texas has seen a flurry of big names leave and declare for the 2025 NFL draft, including running back Jaydon Blue, wide receivers Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden, offensive tackles Kelvin Banks Jr., and Cameron Williams and others.
The biggest question was regarding quarterback Quinn Ewers. Right before the Cotton Bowl, Ewers made things pretty clear when he answered a question regarding his future, saying he didn't expect to be playing college football next season.
Still, rumors swirled since the Cotton Bowl loss, with one insider even pegging Notre Dame as a potential landing spot.
On Wednesday, the decision came in and Ewers is officially declaring for the NFL draft, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.
"Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is declaring for the NFL draft, his agent Ron Slavin told ESPN," Thamel wrote on X. "The decision ends a career at Texas that saw him go 21-5 as a starter the last two years (and) revive and lead the Longhorns to the school’s only two CFP appearances."
Ewers transferred from Ohio State and then became the starter at Texas. He started 36 games during his time with the Longhorns, which includes back-to-back College Football Playoff trips.
In 2024, Ewers finished with 3.472 yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while leading Texas to the CFP semifinals.
It remains to be seen what Ewers' draft prospects look like, although CBS Sports had him as the No. 4 QB and No. 53 overall prospect at the beginning of January.
With Ewers officially going to the NFL, it is now Arch Manning's time in Texas.
