The Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian are looking to add to an already impressive 2026 recruiting class, receiving 21 commitments, ranking No. 2 in the SEC and No. 5 in the nation.
Several talented players are still up for grabs, including EDGE Jake Kreul, who Rivals Industry Rankings place as a four-star recruit, the No. 8 player at his position and the No. 41 player in the nation.
Kreu is set to announce his commitment on Tuesday, choosing between three high-powered SEC programs, Texas, the Ole Miss Rebels and the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Longhorns may have been dominating the recruiting trail throughout the offseason, but they failed to come out on top in this battle. Instead, Kreul chose the other side of the Red River Rivalry, going with Oklahoma.

In an article from Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, the pass rusher noted that the environment in Norman caught his attention.
“The one thing I like about OU is that Norman has that college town vibes that you get to see in the traditional SEC,” Kreul said. “You just know game days are going to be crazy with all the fans.”
Throughout the recruiting process, Oklahoma hosted Kreul for five total visits, while Texas got him for three and Ole Miss just once.
The Longhorns may have completely dominated the Sooners the last time the two played, winning 34-3, but this serves as a very nice off-the-field win for Oklahoma against their biggest rivals.
It comes as a crucial time as well, with Kreul becoming the program's 16th commitment in the 2026 class. As a group, they now rank No. 10 in the SEC and No. 21 in the nation.
He also becomes Oklahoma's third EDGE addition, joining three-star Daniel Norman and three-star Matthew Nelson.
