The Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns will open the upcoming college football season against one another on August 30.
Texas comes into the game ranked as the top team in the country in the first Associated Press poll, while Ohio State, which won last season's national title, comes in at third.
It's a rematch of last season's Cotton Bowl Classic, a game that the Buckeyes won by 14, 28-14.
Julian Sayin will be the Buckeyes' starting quarterback for the 2025 season, and Longhorns star EDGE rusher Colin Simmons is fired up about it. He posted the news on his Instagram story after it came out.
Simmons will use it as motivation when he lines up on defense for the Longhorns on August 30. He's going into his sophomore season after finishing the 2024 season with 48 total tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, two passes defended, and one interception.
Sayin will have to be careful each time he drops back since Simmons will be coming after him. This will be the first year that Sayin operates as the starter after Will Howard led the Buckeyes to the national title last season. Howard was eventually drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The game between the Buckeyes and Longhorns on August 30 has the opportunity to be an instant classic, and it will get underway at Noon ET on FOX. College GameDay will also be present for the game.
