Texas Tech vs Houston Prediction: Battle of Big 12 Unbeatens
© Craig Strobeck-Imagn Images

Texas Tech has been riding high ever since the 34-10 win over Utah that seemed like it happened two months ago.

It was two weeks ago, but it sent a message that the leader of the Big 12 pack might be in Lubbock.

The Red Raiders have outscored their opponents 208 to 45 so far, but they have to deal with the second trip in a run of three road games in four.

Houston needed a late comeback to get past a bad Oregon State, but helped by a win over Colorado, it's 4-0 and unbeaten in the Big 12, too.

With the Oklahoma State free space up next, this is a moment to take the league's spotlight.

Why Texas Tech Will Win

Are the Red Raiders really this good?

They were able to get past Utah after starting quarterback Behren Morton was hurt, but he's expected to be back as he works through a neck injury.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's Morton or Will Hammond, the nation's best passing game keeps rolling for close to 370 yards per game.

The Houston secondary has been good so far, but it hasn't faced anyone who can throw like this attack does.

But it's more than that. The Texas Tech defense attacks and forces plenty of mistakes, coming up with nine takeaways in the first four games. However ...

Why Houston Will Win

Houston doesn't give the ball away, with just one lone interception on the year. Penalties aren't a big problem, either.

The Cougar offense is balanced, and it has a way to keep drives grinding along. However, it's better when it has to let it rip. It was struggling against Oregon State, and then when it was desperation time, everything clicked.

There can't be any fear here. Utah tried to get the passing attack going against the Red Raiders, and bad things happened. Cougar quarterback Conner Weigman has to find a groove from jump.

The Red Raiders Will Turn It Up a Notch ...

In the second half.

It'll take a little while for the Red Raiders to find their groove, but Houston won't run away with the lead.

The home side will play sharp, and it'll keep things moving early on, but there will be a few too many unsatisfying trips in the red zone.

Just when it seems like Houston is making a statement, that's when everything will kick in for the Red Raiders.
