There will be at least one change to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian's staff this offseason.
On Thursday, the Longhorns learned that safeties coach Blake Gideon would not be returning for another season as he accepted a role with Georgia Tech as its defensive coordinator.
Gideon leaves his alma mater after four years with the program. He played a crucial role in developing players such as Michael Taaffe, Derek Williams and Jelani McDonald. The former Longhorn also served as an excellent recruiter.
Texas' top 2025 recruit, five-star safety Jonah Williams, expressed his disappointment in one word via social media shortly after the Gideon news was released.

The Longhorns secondary was fantastic throughout the 2024 season, allowing only 173.8 yards through the air. Whoever Gideon's replacement may be will have a plethora of talent to work with.
While Gideon will certainly be missed, Sarkisian has seemingly nailed every hire since arriving in Austin. We will monitor potential candidates to replace Gideon over the coming days.
