The Athletic's Sam Khan Jr. and Antonio Morales broke down every FBS starting quarterback this week and ranked UC's Brendan Sorsby 20th overall entering his second season as the Bearcats' leader.

Sorsby was one of four FBS QBs with at least 2,800 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and nine rushing touchdowns last season. His versatility and arm talent stood out in the exercise.

"How does a quarterback of a team that went 5-7 make it this high on the list?" The article stated. "'Very talented thrower, NFL arm, one of the best in the country,' a former Power 4 scouting director said."

Sorsby is a legit top-30 quarterback nationally and arguably top 20, as this ranking suggests. He has more than enough talent to help lead the Bearcats to a bowl game; the big question is how the talent he's throwing to and blocking for him coalesce over the next month-plus.

One big area the Bearcats are trying to key in on is the deep ball. Sorsby completed just 28.9% of his 20-plus-yard passes for five touchdowns and two interceptions last season (63.5 Pro Football Focus grade on those throws).

Getting more separation from his receivers should help those figures this fall.
