The Heisman Trophy is one of the most well-known and prestigious awards in college sports.
Awarded to the best player in college football, this year's recipient will follow last year's winner, wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, who was selected second overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In his Heisman season, Hunter totaled 1,258 receiving yards on 96 catches and scored 15 touchdowns (both led the conference). He also made 25 solo tackles and intercepted four passes in 13 games with the University of Colorado Boulder.
Hunter finished ahead of running back Ashton Jeanty from Boise State (Las Vegas Raiders) and quarterback Dillon Gabriel from the University of Oregon (Cleveland Browns). Hunter received 552 first-place votes, Jeanty received 309 and Gabriel received 24.
The two-way star sadly had his rookie season cut short because of a knee injury. Hunter finished the season with 298 receiving yards on 28 receptions and a touchdown, plus 15 total tackles, 11 solo tackles and three pass defenses.
