The Portal’s Most Wanted: Alonzo Jackson Jr.
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

A couple of years ago it may have seemed odd to highlight a player as a possible transfer candidate, but in 2026 it is just a sign of the times. This season I will highlight young players outside of the P4 whose performance on the field will catch the attention of the elite.

LB Alonzo Jackson Jr. (Louisiana Tech)

Currently in his third season at Louisiana Tech, after redshirting in 2024 and playing in 12 games in 2025, Jackson has taken his game to the next level in 2026. He began to reach his potential last season with 32 tackles, four tackles for loss, one interception and four pass breakups. After totaling four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one interception in the opening 80-6 victory over Northwestern State, Jackson would be in the spotlight during the Bulldogs’ second game at LSU.

And he responded in convincing fashion. While Louisiana Tech lost 45-14, Jackson was all over the field. He finished with 12 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one pass breakup, while playing against one of the SEC’s best. This was an extremely successful audition, as that video will be analyzed by FBS coaches across the country. What they will is a highly athletic, explosive, sideline-to-sideline linebacke who has a track-and-field background.

Coming from Haynesville, Louisiana, the junior is listed at 6-foot-1, 227-pounds. He committed to the Bulldogs over Texas-San Antonio, Louisiana and Grambling State.
