Tommy Rees viewed as an option for Northwestern job, per a report

Does Nick Saban lose another coach from his staff for Alabama football before the season starts?

After Northwestern fired Pat Fitzgerald because of a hazing scandal, the head coaching position is opened.

Fitzgerald, an alumnus of Northwestern University, played and coached at the program. He served as head coach for 16 years (2006-22), building a respectable program in the Big Ten Conference. Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and Fox Sports reports Tommy Rees as one of nine names to watch that could potentially replace Fitzgerald. Rees, 30, accepted an offensive coordinator position at the University of Alabama in February. He signed a three-year contract that starts at $1.9 million and will increase to $2.1 million.

Rees, a Notre Dame alum, played quarterback for the Fighting Irish.

He is looking forward to developing the Crimson Tide’s quarterback room and locating a starter for the upcoming fall. Alabama fans can only hope he turns down the thought of Northwestern. Austin Armstrong, a former defensive coordinator at Southern Mississippi, was originally hired to be Alabama’s inside linebackers coach, but he took a coordinator position at Florida.

We will see what happens with Rees.
