While the past few weeks have been hectic and surreal for Travis Hunter—who was selected No. 2 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2025 NFL draft—they didn’t stop him from achieving a tremendous milestone on Thursday.
Hunter, who spent one season at Jackson State before transferring to Colorado for his final two years, quickly established himself as one of the most rare and dynamic talents college football has seen in years. His extraordinary performance culminated in winning the Heisman Trophy, becoming just the second player in Colorado Buffaloes history to earn the honor.
Despite declaring for the NFL Draft after his junior season, Hunter revealed in a video posted on the Buffaloes’ social media—alongside some of his Colorado teammates—that he earned his degree and graduated from the University of Colorado.
"What's up, Buff Nation? It's your boy Trav! The boys out here graduating, man!" Hunter said excitedly.
Colorado’s official account posted, "GOT THAT DEGREE!"

The Jaguars are set to begin rookie minicamp on Saturday, and Hunter capped off his career at Colorado in style by finishing his studies with an impressive GPA between 3.7 and 3.9.
His transition from Colorado to Jacksonville has been swift, and he is quickly becoming a cornerstone of the franchise’s future. Hunter is expected to play both wide receiver and cornerback—unprecedented territory at the NFL level.
Initially slated to start as a wide receiver and primarily work with the receiving corps, he will also transition to cornerback.
Hunter will sit in on defensive back meetings and is set to contribute on both sides of the ball. Jacksonville appears ready to utilize him in exactly the way he hoped when he entered the NFL, capitalizing on his versatility and unique skill set.
“Travis Hunter will start off as a wide receiver first,” NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe said. “He’s going to get most of his time at wide receiver, and then learn defensive back as the summer goes along.”
