Over the past few weeks, Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter's fiancée, Leanna Lenee, has been dealing with "crazy narratives" over recent remarks and actions captured in video clips shared online. Following the Heisman Trophy ceremony on Saturday, criticism from fans has ramped up even more.
In a nearly eight-minute video posted on TikTok on Monday, Lenee addressed some damaging rumors she has experienced when it comes to her relationship with Hunter.
Early in the video, Lenee shared that she received permission from Hunter to say everything she did, even though she "did not want to address it."
Lenee went on to talk about her comments on Hunter not being her "type," which resurfaced in early December. She cleared the air on what she actually meant, making sure people knew it wasn't about the way he looked, but about him being younger than her and his previous relationships.
Next, Lenee discussed the viral incident following Colorado's 52-0 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the final week of the regular season, where many fans assumed she was upset with him. Lenee commented that she was mad at stadium security for not letting family down to the field, not upset at her fiancé. She also noted that the short clip circulating on social media did not show her congratulatory interaction with Hunter in the moments prior.
Then, Lenee brought up the clip from the Adidas event where Hunter was signing autographs and taking pictures with fans, and later, Adidas workers. Many claimed Lenee said, "Am I supposed to just sit here all day?" to Hunter. In the TikTok video, she made sure people knew what was spoken, paraphrasing, "Baby, do you want me to sit here or do you want me to go with the family? Or do you want me to come with you?"
The last thing Lenee remarked on was the viral moment when Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy, and many assumed Colorado coach Deion Sanders made Lenee stand up to support him. According to Lenee, that was not true.
"He said, 'Go get him. Go get your man,'" Lenee said.
She also admitted, due to recent online backlash, she was trying to avoid a camera shot of Sanders and his son, Shedeur Sanders, both of whom were alongside Hunter at the ceremony.
Hunter and Lenee met during the wide receiver/cornerback's final year in high school in Suwanee, Georgia. They began dating in February 2022 before Hunter took his talents to Jackson State, where Sanders coached from 2020-2022.
Two years later, the couple got engaged and announced the news via Instagram, where she commented, "A million times, yes." Now, the two are getting set for Hunter's NFL career, as he is widely projected to be a top pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft.
