The center of the quarterback universe is currently Nicholls State University, where the annual Manning Passing Academy is taking place. Two of the counselors at the camp are Texas quarterback Arch Manning and LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who are both magnets for publicity.

However, according to an article done by Jon Alfano of Texas Longhorns on SI, Manning is gaining more attention in and around the camp, which is located an hour away from LSU’s campus, than Nussmeier.

“This is hilarious. This is the first time in Louisiana where this has kind of happened,” Nussmeier said, regarding a trip the two took to Walmart. “We were just laughing. (People) come over, ‘Hey Arch! Arch! Can I get a picture?’ I’m just sitting in the background like ‘Hey guys!’”

While Manning may be playing for Texas, his ties to the state of Louisiana run deep. He grew up and played high school football in the state before deciding to take his talents to Austin.

Experiences like this are good for both players, and for Nussmeier it’s a nice break for the attention he usually gets. As for Manning, it is something that he has dealt with for years and will continue to do so for many years to come.
