Usually when a players transfers, that ends the chances of his former head coach discussing him. TCU head coach Sonny Dykes took a different approach on Tuesday, by criticizing Josh Hoover about his turnover history with the Horned Frogs.

Hoover played in 36 games at TCU, throwing for 9,629 yards, 71 touchdowns and 33 interceptions. But as Coach Dykes was eager to point out, his interception totals became a concern. This includes his 13 in 2025, which led the Big 12 and was third most in the country.

For Hoover, all eyes will be on him to see if he can fix these issues at his transfer destination, Indiana. Head coach Curt Cignetti has shown an impressive ability to identify quarterback talent, so Hoover will be his next test case.

As for TCU, there will be quarterback uncertainty in Fort Worth in 2026. Transfer Jaden Craig is the likely starter, but with all of his collegiate experience coming at Harvard, there are questions about his transition to P4 football. Redshirt freshman Adam Schobel will be lurking if Craig falters.

Coach Dykes has impressed at TCU. In four seasons with the Horned Frogs he has compiled a 36-17 record, including a improbable run to the 2022 National Championship Game. But overall, he only brings a .572 winning percentage into his 17th head coaching season.

While the 2022 season gave him cushion, criticizing former players will put an unnecessary scope on Coach Dykes. It will be interesting to see how this plays out during the 2026 season for TCU and also Hoover at Indiana.
