In the new era of college football, when a transfer is signed it is usually to make an instant impact. That is especially true when that transfer was a starter at Alabama. But that isn’t the case at Nebraska, where offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett has disappointed since his arrival.

Pritchett’s placement on Nebraska’s first depth chart of the season raised more than a few eyebrows. Instead of being the starter at left tackle, he is currently third behind Gunnar Gottula and Turner Corcoran

When he signed with the Huskers, the assumption by most is that he would slide into the starting spot after manning the right side in Tuscaloosa last season. However, mental mistakes have continually plagued him in Lincoln.

And the fact that Coach Rhule was very open about his faults makes this situation a bit more interesting. It isn’t often that a coach will specifically call out a player in the press, so how Pritchett responds to this negative publicity could be interesting.

Will he take this critique to heart and fix his faults or will he continue to flounder as a third-string player? Only time will tell.
