Tulsa football coach Tre Lamb appears to have a second career lined up if the Golden Hurricane job does not work out.
Lamb managed to qualify for the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship this week by making the cut at Thursday’s qualifier at The Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow, Ok. The Tulsa football account celebrated his achievement on social media.

Lamb shot a 3-over 75 to narrowly make the cut for the actual championship, which is slated to take place in two weeks. He did so despite never having played the course before.
“It’s fun. I love golf. I love competing. It’s an opportunity to compete,” Lamb said. “I don’t know how many more of these I’ve got left in me.”

That’s a pretty cool achievement for an amateur who has never set foot on the course before. Lamb is unlikely to be favored to actually win the amateur title, but he will be competing, and that is an accomplishment in itself.
Lamb was hired as Tulsa’s new coach in December. He spent last season as head coach at FCS East Tennessee State, where he guided the team to a 7-5 record. Before that, he spent four seasons coaching Gardner-Webb, where he compiled a 20-20 record.
