Two Former FSU Football Players Decommit From FAMU, Re-enter Transfer Portal

The NCAA Transfer Portal is in full swing this offseason as players seek to find greener pastures and new homes. When the portal opened on December 4, Florida State saw many players leave and three transfer just minutes away from campus to FAMU.

FSU running back Rodney Hill and offensive lineman Qae'shon Sapp entered the portal during the current window along with teammate defensive back Demorie Tate. Hill and Sapp announced via Twitter their intentions to look elsewhere.

"After much consideration, I would like to announce I have decided to reopen my recruitment in the transfer portal. I look forward to finding a new home soon," the Tweet read.

Hill spent two seasons with the Seminoles in a backup role, finding the majority of his playing time in 2023, where he recorded 50 carries for 190 yards and a score while catching five passes for 42 yards.

Sapp Joined FSU as a part of the 2022 recruiting class and spent most of his time on the scout team. He redshirted his first season after making his collegiate debut against Louisiana and appeared in one game for the 'Noles against Southern Miss in 2023.

The news likely follows FAMU head coach Willie Simmons's resignation from the program after accepting a job at Duke coaching running backs. Simmons is coming off a National Championship with the Rattlers and played a big part in their initial recruitment.
