Georgia's football program has been one of the best in the country over the last several years, but it's also had a serious issue with the off-field conduct of certain players.
Dozens of Georgia football players have been involved in traffic related incidents over the last few years, and two players were recently involved in driving incidents this very offseason.
According to UGASports.com, wide receiver Nitro Tuggle was arrested by the Athens-Clarke County Police and charged with reckless driving and speeding.
Offensive lineman Marques Easley was arrested, and Georgia Bulldogs on SI says that he was involved in an accident that required a short stint in the hospital.
On Thursday, the Georgia football program has announced that both players have been suspended indefinitely.
Tuggle caught three passes for 34 yards as a true freshman last year, appearing in six game for the Bulldogs. He initially entered the transfer portal but rescinded that choice one day later.
The former four-star recruit out of Indiana was among top recruit in his class at wide receiver, and appeared to be poised for a bigger role in 2025.
Easley was also a four-star recruit out of Illinois, choosing the Bulldogs after receiving offers from other top schools like Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, police reported 24 driving-related incidents involving Georgia football players dating back to January 2023. That includes the crash that killed a Georgia football player in Devin Willock and a team staffer, Chandler LeCroy.
That figure also dates back to last July, when the AJC's report was published. Since that time, a Georgia player was arrested in September and charged with not wearing a seatbelt, operating an unregistered vehicle without a license plate, driving without proof of insurance, and having illegal window tint.
“We don’t talk about the suspensions; we have them,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said last July at SEC Media Days.
“I think it’s pretty obvious that we’ve done them in the past. You guys know when we do them, but each of those cases are very different, and they’ll be handled in different ways.”
Smart has also said that players are fined from the team's NIL collective as a means to stop further driving issues.
