Ty Simpson reacts to being named Alabama football’s starting quarterback
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

Ty Simpson isn’t surprised he is now officially the starting quarterback for Alabama football.

Simpson led the charge all offseason as the Crimson Tide looked to fill their vacancy under center at quarterback after Jalen Milroe opted to take his talents to the NFL. After competing against Keelon Russell and Austin Mack throughout the spring and summer, the former five-star was named Alabama football’s next starting quarterback on Monday.

“It’s something I’ve dreamed about since I came here,” Simpson told reporters. “But I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s nothing that I didn’t expect. I feel like I worked my tail off for it, and I’m just excited for the opportunity to go out there with my guys and compete every day.”

Simpson will now have the full opportunity to display what he can do as a full-time starter when Alabama football opens its season against Florida State on August 30th at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
