UAB Blazers Key Player

Nigel Tate, DT Sr.
The 325-pound Tate, along with Denver Warren from Sam Houston, has to bring a big veteran presence to the interior. Tate is the biggest body up front, but the Boston College transfer has to be healthy - he only made ten tackles in his short career.

UAB Blazers Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss

Top Transfer In: Eli Ennis, LB Sr.
There might be more talented players coming in, and there are far more higher-rated prospects, but Ennis should make the biggest impact. He was a tackling machine for Nicholls State, making 200 stops with 5.5 sacks and 22.5 tackles for loss in his three years.

2025 UAB Preview

Top Transfer Out: Delano Townsend, OG Soph.
Losing safety Adrian Maddox to Georgia is big, and offensive tackle Jordan Hall going to North Carolina is a problem, but the 6-4, 315-pound Townsend is a potential pro prospect who’s just getting started. He’ll be a key part of the Ole Miss line now.

UAB Blazers Key Game

at Navy, Sept. 6
How much has UAB improved? It wasn’t even close in the 41-18 loss to Navy to open up the conference season last year, and now the game is in Week Two. Win, and with Alabama State to start, and Akron to follow, this almost certainly would be the program’s first 3-0 start since 2019.

UAB Blazers 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen

How quickly will all the parts come together?

This is a reset, but it should be a positive. Dilfer and his staff might need a little bit to get things going, but there are more than enough winnable games to get past four wins for the first time in his era.

There should be a few wins early, and then the team will need some help. The hardest AAC games are at home - Memphis, Army, North Texas, USF - and the winnable ones against Tulsa, Rice, and Florida Atlantic are on the road. But this year, the starting 22 should be just good enough come up with a few close wins.

Set The UAB Blazers Win Total At … 4.5

Likely Wins: Alabama State, Akron

50/50 Games: Army, at Florida Atlantic, at Navy, North Texas, at Rice, at Tulsa

Likely Losses: Memphis, at Tennessee, at UConn, USF
