The UCF Knights have reportedly named Cam Fancher their starting quarterback for the 2025 season, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Fancher is a transfer from Florida Atlantic, where he threw six touchdowns to six interceptions, while completing 59% of his passes last season. His best game of the season came against North Texas when he went 22/30 for 351 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in a 41-37 loss last October.

Prior to 2024, Fancher spent three seasons with Marshall, where he threw 21 touchdowns to 17 inter ceptions during the 2022 and 2023 football seasons.

Fancher was not considered the front runner in this race for much of the offseason. He was in a battle with returning quarterback Jacurri Brown, and Tayven Jackson, who trasnferred to UCF from Indiana.

However, of the three candidates, Fancher brings the most experience and Scott Frost said that background was apparent early in camp.

“I think early on he did the best job of getting in the huddle, having command, making the calls precisely, and helping everybody else get lined up, and that speaks to the experience level,” Frost recently said before the news broke. “He’s played more ball. The other guys have caught up to a great deal and are doing a good job with that too, but you could recognize early on that Cam’s been in that position before.”

UCF is now under the direction of Scott Frost, returning to the program he once led to a 13-0 record in 2017, before taking the Nebraska job, where he was fired in his 5th season after going 16-31 and 10-26 in Big Ten play.

UCF football opens next Thursday, August 28th against Jacksonville State with a 7:00 p.m. ET kick off.
