Welcome to the 2026 World Series!
The Tampa Bay Rays take on the Milwaukee Brewers in a battle of franchises in search of their first World Series championship, and Rays manager Kevin Cash is starting the series with a twist.
While presumptive-Cy Young winner Jacob Misiorowski will take the ball in Game 1 for Milwaukee, Cash will trot out Nick Martinez to get things started for Tampa Bay rather than Drew Rasmussen.
Rasmussen has been dominant for the Rays in three starts so far this postseason, but Martinez enters the contest with an extra day of rest after Rasmussen pitched in Game 5 of the ALCS on October 18. Martinez was an All-Star in his own right this season, and proved he can perform on a big stage after his 5 1/3-inning, two-hit, one-run effort in his lone start against Cleveland.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the starting pitchers trusted with the ball in Game 1 of each World Series since 1996 can you name in eight minutes?
Good luck!
