UNC head coach Bill Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson denied in trademark filings

Bill Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, filed four trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, but they have all been denied, The Athletic reports.

He was denied the trademarks for "Do Your Job (Bill's Version)," "Ignore the Noise (Bill's Version)," "The Belestrator (Bill's Version)" and "No Days Off (Bill's Version)."

The reason given by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office was that it would cause a "likelihood of confusion" with ones that were previously filed. In 2009, the Patriots trademarked “The Belestrator," along with “Do Your Job” in 2013, as well as “No Days Off” and “Ignore the Noise” in 2017.

“It was very obvious that the USPTO would refuse these applications from the start,” trademark attorney Josh Gerben of the firm Gerben IP told ESPN on Monday. “They’re too similar. Like, I can’t say I’m going to make ‘Nike shoes (Josh’s version).’ Once somebody has a trademark registered on a name or a phrase, you’re not able to just simply add something to it and get it registered.”

Considering Belichick's current feelings about the Patriots, it makes sense that he would want these phrases that he is known for to be associated with him rather than his former team.

Bill Belichick's feud with Patriots takes new turn

Belichick recently made headlines after reports circled that he banned Patriots scouts from going to North Carolina. And the Tar Heels head coach basically confirmed this when speaking with reports after UNC's win over Charlotte on Saturday.

“It’s clear I’m not welcome there around their facility, and so they’re not welcome at ours," he said.

This came after Robert Kraft told WBZ-TV that he wants to put up a statue of Belichick next to the one of legendary quarterback Tom Brady.
