UNLV defender directs trash talk toward UCLA QB Nico Iamaleava ahead of matchup between the Rebels and the Bruins

UNLV Rebels defensive back Aamaris Brown didn't sound impressed by UCLA Bruins quarterback Nico Iamaleava this week.

Iamaleava, who is in his first year at UCLA after spending the first two seasons of his career with the Tennessee Vols, will lead the Bruins against UNLV in Week 2.

The former Tennessee quarterback is 0-1 as UCLA's starter after the Bruins' loss to Utah in Week 1.

Brown, who started his career at Kansas State before spending three seasons at USF (where former Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh is entering his third season as the head coach), was asked this week about facing Iamaleava.

The former USF defensive back quickly made it clear that he's not "scared" of competing against Iamaleava.

"Nothing really sticks out to me about him, honestly" said Brown. "You know in the past, there's been talk about 'five-star this, five-star that.' I have been around plenty of five-star and four-stars -- it don't scare me. I have played competition technically higher than them, including Alabama and all that. Going against a guy like Nico, there's no surprise, no excitement or nothing like that."

Iamaleava had a rough outing in his first start for the Bruins, passing for just 136 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the 43-10 loss to Utah.

It sounds like it'll be another tough challenge for the former Vol in Week 2 as the Rebels clearly aren't intimidated by his status as a former five-star recruit.
