Updated odds to win the 2016 College Football Playoff

Updated odds to win the College Football Playoff. Odds as of Oct. 25, according to Sportsbook.ag.

1 of 27

Alabama: 8/5

Elite on both sides of the ball, the defending champs haven't really been tested yet this season. Alabama still has a few big games: at LSU, vs. Auburn and likely the SEC Championship.

Ohio State: 9/2

Ohio State: 9/2

The Buckeyes took a shocking loss at Penn State, but they have time to right the ship. They have remaining home games vs. Nebraska and vs. Michigan. Winning out in the regular season would get them to the Big Ten Championship, and winning that game would more than likely return Urban Meyer and company to the College Football Playoff.

Michigan: 6/1

Michigan: 6/1

Michigan's only major test so far this season came vs. Wisconsin in a 14-7 win. The Wolverines have three pivotal road games over the last five weeks: Michigan State, Iowa and Ohio State. The latter will likely decide which Big Ten team goes to the College Football Playoff.

4 of 27

Clemson: 7/1

Clemson: 7/1

The Tigers are still unscathed, but it's been far from easy. Four of their seven wins have been by seven points or less, including an overtime win vs. N.C. State. Their only tough regular-season game remaining is at Florida State, and winning that game would likely vault them to the ACC Championship Game. The Coastal Division doesn't exactly offer any brutal matchups, with North Carolina leading the way.

Washington: 17/2

Washington: 17/2

The Huskies escaped with an overtime win at Arizona earlier in the year but have otherwise pulverized all opponents. The rest of their schedule is far more difficult, including at Utah, at Cal and at Washington State. They'll more than likely have to run the table to make the College Football Playoff.

6 of 27

Louisville: 17/2

Louisville: 17/2
Jamie Rhodes / USA Today Sports Images

A six-point loss at Clemson shouldn't end Louisville's College Football Playoff hopes. Lamar Jackson and company have a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way, with the biggest test coming at Houston on Nov. 17.

LSU: 25/1

LSU: 25/1

It will be awfully tough for a two-loss team to make the College Football Playoff, but the Tigers are showing major momentum after beating Ole Miss by 17 points. With remaining games vs. Alabama, at Arkansas, vs. Florida and at Texas A&M, the Tigers could impress the playoff committee enough for a berth if everything falls their way.

Oklahoma: 30/1

Oklahoma: 30/1

The Sooners lost two of their first three games but have rattled off four straight wins since then. They have key remaining games vs. Baylor and at West Virginia, but it will be a tall task for Bob Stoops' team to make the CFP even if the Sooners win out.

9 of 27

Auburn: 40/1

Auburn: 40/1

Gus Malzahn's team lost two of the first three games of the year, but the strong defense and a favorable schedule have helped the Tigers start 5-2. They have a rough remaining SEC schedule that includes at Ole Miss, at Georgia and at Alabama.

10 of 27

West Virginia: 40/1

West Virginia: 40/1
Ben Queen / USA Today Sports Images

Despite a couple close calls, the Mountaineers remain undefeated at 6-0. Without a Big 12 Championship Game, West Virginia's objective becomes more difficult, but it could still make the College Football Playoff if the team runs the table. The Mountaineers play Oklahoma and Baylor at home near the end of the season.

11 of 27

Nebraska: 45/1

Nebraska: 45/1

Mike Riley's team has rebounded to start the season 7-0, though the most notable wins are Oregon and Indiana. The Huskers could be in for a wake-up call over the next two weeks on the road vs. Wisconsin and Ohio State.

12 of 27

Wisconsin: 45/1

Wisconsin: 45/1

The Badgers shocked the world by beating LSU in Week 1 and stand at 5-2 with only close losses to Michigan and Ohio State. Winning out during the regular season could allow a rematch in the Big Ten Championship vs. either foe and potentially an entrance into the College Football Playoff.

13 of 27

Baylor: 50/1

Baylor: 50/1
Raymond Carlin III / USA Today Sports Images

Baylor has overcome a terrible offseason to begin the season 6-0, though the Bears really haven't played a formidable opponent. That will change over the final weeks vs. TCU, at Oklahoma and at West Virginia.

14 of 27

Texas A&M: 75/1

Texas A&M: 75/1
Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports Images

The Aggies have won two games in overtime this season but suffered their first loss 33-14 at Alabama. Winning the rest of the regular-season games probably won't get A&M into the SEC Championship, but the Aggies could be tempting for the playoff committee if they finish with one loss.

15 of 27

Florida: 85/1

Florida: 85/1
Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

Losing at Tennessee without starting quarterback Luke Del Rio could have ruined Florida's playoff hopes, but the Gators still have a chance. Wins at Arkansas, LSU and Florida State would really boost their stock.

16 of 27

Utah: 100/1

Utah: 100/1
Gary A. Vasquez / USA Today Sports Images

A tough loss at Cal earlier in the season has kept the Utes out of the playoff conversation, but they could reclaim their shot with wins vs. Washington and at Colorado. Even if Utah does win out, a College Football Playoff berth certainly isn't assured.

17 of 27

Boise State: 125/1

Boise State: 125/1
Brian Losness / USA Today Sports Images

Boise State often caused controversy in the BCS, and it could be deja vu with the College Football Playoff. The Broncos have started the season 7-0 and have a very manageable schedule the rest of the way.

18 of 27

Tennessee: 150/1

Tennessee: 150/1
Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports Images

The Vols have now lost consecutive games and were a miracle Hail Mary away from losing to Georgia earlier in the year. The remainder of their schedule is quite easy, and a rematch vs. Alabama in the SEC Championship would at least give them a shot to make the playoff.

19 of 27

Florida State: 200/1

Florida State: 200/1
Melina Vastola / USA Today Sports Images

The Seminoles took tough losses at Louisville and vs. North Carolina but could fix their season with remaining games vs. Clemson and Florida. Big wins vs. Ole Miss and Miami add to their résumé.

20 of 27

North Carolina: 200/1

North Carolina: 200/1
Jason Getz / USA Today Sports Images

North Carolina has escaped with a relatively easy ACC schedule this season, avoiding Clemson and Louisville. The Tar Heels still have two losses, but an ACC Championship appearance would allow them a marquee matchup vs. one of those tough foes to potentially launch their stock.

21 of 27

Oklahoma State: 200/1

Oklahoma State: 200/1
Alonzo Adams / USA Today Sports Images

The Cowboys lost early in the year to Central Michigan, a loss that shouldn't have been, and also fell by 11 points at Baylor. Tough games on their schedule include West Virginia and at Oklahoma.

22 of 27

Virginia Tech: 200/1

Virginia Tech: 200/1
Mark Konezny / USA Today Sports Images

The Hokies have started 5-2 in the post-Frank Beamer era, but a bad loss at Syracuse could be too much for them to earn CFP consideration. They have three road games over their last five matchups, but none of the games is particularly imposing.

23 of 27

Washington State: 200/1

Washington State: 200/1
Kyle Terada / USA Today Sports Images

Mike Leach's team has dug out of a 0-2 hole to win five straight Pac-12 games. The remainder of the schedule is very difficult, including at Colorado and vs. Washington, but making the College Football Playoff wouldn't be impossible if the Cougars win out.

24 of 27

Colorado: 300/1

Colorado: 300/1
Ron Chenoy / USA Today Sports Images

Colorado deserves a round of applause for its improvement this season, beginning the year 6-2, but winning the ultimate prize will be nearly impossible. The Buffaloes took a bad loss at USC and still have remaining games against UCLA, Arizona, Washington State and Utah.

25 of 27

Houston: 500/1

Houston: 500/1
Raymond Carlin III / USA Today Sports Images

Houston is no longer the flavor of the week with losses at Navy and SMU in two of the last three games. Beating Louisville late in the year would certainly replenish the résumé but probably not enough to make the playoff.

26 of 27

Navy: 500/1

Navy: 500/1
Tommy Gilligan / USA Today Sports Images

Navy has nice wins vs. Houston and Memphis, but the Midshipmen probably didn't have a shot to make the College Football Playoff even if they went unscathed. They lost at Air Force earlier in the season.

27 of 27

Penn State: 500/1

Penn State: 500/1
Rich Barnes / USA Today Sports Images

The Nittany Lions are on the radar after being Ohio State, but losses at Pitt and Michigan have probably removed them from playoff consideration. The win against the Buckeyes certainly removed coach James Franklin from the hot seat, however.
