On Saturday afternoon an ugly scene took place in Columbus, Ohio as the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines came to blows following a hard-fought game.
Wolverines players attempted to plant the Michigan flag at midfield, which sparked a brawl as Ohio State players ran over to stop them. As players scuffled a police officer was knocked to the ground and pepper spray was used to calm the moment.
"I don't know all the details of it, but I know these guys are looking to put a flag on our field and our guys weren't going to let that happen," Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said. "I'll find out exactly what happened. But this is our field and certainly we're embarrassed of the fact that we lost the game, but there's some prideful guys in this team that weren't going to just let that happen."
A former Ohio State head coach doesn't agree. Urban Meyer called the action from both teams a "shame" that marred what could have been a wondering win for the Wolverines.
"Yeah, I've been involved in the game for 50 years and I can't remember seeing something like that," he said after the game. "That's a shame and I saw James Franklin pull his players off one time when they were getting ready to fight and I did that one time - there's no room for that."

"Go celebrate with your fans, your teammates, same with the Buckeyes, go sing the alma mater and get into the locker room, get off the field. So both teams are wrong and it's a shame that this will be the story line instead of the Wolverines rushing for 172 yards vs. 77 for the Buckeyes," he added.
Ryan Day fell to 1-4 against Michigan with the loss as Ohio State will likely miss the Big Ten title game.
