USC Football: Caleb Williams Ranked Surprisingly Low In ESPN Mock Draft

USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to be one of the top players taken in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. He has been viewed highly over the last few years, and will likely be a complete game-changer for whatever NFL team takes him.

However, Williams surprisingly came in at No. 10 in the latest ESPN top players ranking. After the Trojans stumbled this past season, it makes sense that Williams may dip a little bit, but he is the fourth quarterback on the list.

It was disappointing season overall for the Trojans, but that came despite another standout year for Williams, who remains the odds-on favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. Williams threw for 3,633 yards with 30 touchdown passes to just five interceptions. He added 11 rushing touchdowns.

Williams sits behind Jayden Daniels from LSU, Michael Penix Jr. from Washington, and Bo Nix from Oregon. It may be a recency bias situation, but Williams may have the most upside among all of these players.

He was labeled as the next generational player to be entering the NFL just a few months ago, and now he has fallen completely. It feels as if these rankings are sleeping on him, but it will all depend on how NFL teams view him.

Williams still very well may go in the top few picks. All it takes is one team at the top of the board to really believe in him, and he will then be selected.

He is incredibly talented, and just because the Trojans didn't have a great season, doesn't mean he lost his talent. The issues with USC were far from his problem, and this ranking is a little disrespectful of his talent.
