Utah Dealt Unfortunate News on Star WR Dorian Singer

The Utah Utes have been on the struggle bus over the past couple of years.

After back-to-back Pac-12 titles in 2021-22, the team has gone a combined 13-12 in the last two seasons. Injuries, outdated schemes and troubles on offense have plagued them tremendously. However, heading into 2025 with a new quarterback in Devon Dampier and new play-caller in Jason Beck, the latter of the three recurring problems are expected to be fixed.

Unfortunately over the past few days, we have learned that the offense will not feature the team's star receiver Dorian Singer. Although there were hopes he'd be able to get an extra year of eligibility, Singer will not be back in Salt Lake City next season.

KSL's Steve Bartle confirmed that neither of Singer's two methods of gaining eligibility are believed to have worked.

Bartle revealed that the 2022 All-Pac-12 wide receiver filed for a waiver himself and that the program was also hopeful that the NCAA would give them a positive update regarding a fifth year.

Instead, Singer will take his talents to the next level, and was listed as a participant for this month's Big 12 Pro Day. In his lone year with the Utes, he racked up 53 catches for 702 yards and a score.

While the team was hopeful Singer would return, they had already done some work in the NCAA Transfer Portal landing Creed Whittemore (Mississippi State), Ryan Davis (New Mexico), Otto Tia (Utah State), and Justin Stevenson (Wyoming). With this development, they may dip back into the portal when the spring window opens up.
