Utah's search for an offensive coordinator is finally over as the Utes have hired New Mexico's offensive coordinator, Jason Beck to be the new mind behind the Utah offense.
The program missed out on their top two choices for the coordinator role as Ben Arbuckle went to Oklahoma and Mack Leftwich went to Texas Tech, but have quickly found their man in the wake.
Under Beck this past season, the Lobos finished fifth in the Mountain West, but their offensive output was impressive. The Lobos fielded the No. 4 offense in the country, and were one of the most explosive units in the sport, something that Utah has been lacking.
Quarterback Devin Dampier established himself as one of the most electric names in college football this season as he threw for over 2,700 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for over 1,100 yards and 19 touchdowns.
New Mexico also had another thousand-yard rusher as running back Eli Sanders rushed for 1,063 yards and nine touchdowns averaging 7.2 yards per carry. Their top two receivers also put up solid numbers as Luke Wysong tallied 840 yards on 69 receptions and Ryan Davis racked up 747 yards on 54 receptions.
As a result of the move, Dampier has officially announced that he is entering the transfer portal and could potentially follow Beck to Utah, where he would have a legitimate shot at being the main man under center in 2025.
