Utah football's rough season continues to affect their recruiting prospects as the program has now lost a second top tier commit to USC as edge rusher Nela Tupou has officially announced his flip to the Trojans.
Tupou, a California native, hails from Folsom High School in Folsom, California, and is currently ranked as the 50th-best prospect in the state and the 43rd-ranked ATH in the nation.
The three-star edge rusher stands at 6'4" 250 pounds and had been committed to Utah since February of this year before flipping in the wake of the Iowa State loss.
Tupou becomes the second Utah commit and third Utah target to switch to USC as the former top-ranked prospect of the Utes' 2025 recruiting class Aaron Dunn followed Corner Canyon's Jerome Myles to USC.
While Utah's performances this season haven't been up to par, to say the least, USC hasn't had an incredible season either. As head coach Kyle Whittingham points out time and time again, NIL has changed the college football landscape forever, and it's pretty obvious that USC has much deeper pockets than Utah, which may be the driving force behind these unfortunate flips.
