It took two seasons for Fisch to get Arizona up to speed after fixing the lines and upgrading the overall talent level with several smart signings. It’ll probably take just one season to get Washington rolling again.

To dive head-first into the bucket of horrific sports clichés, last year was a step back to potentially make a giant leap forward.

The 2023 Huskies won eight games by one score. Last year’s team lost in brutally painful fashion against Washington State, and dropped the date at Rutgers 21-18. Had those two games gone the way they probably should’ve, Washington would’ve been 6-0 coming off a huge win over Michigan.

There was a problem on the road the rest of the way, going 0-5 away from Seattle, but it lost to three College Football Playoff teams (Oregon, Penn State, Indiana) and dropped a wildly fun Sun Bowl to Louisville by one on a missed two-point conversion.

Yeah, it was a losing season coming off a national title appearance, but the team was this close to really good in the transition, and now it’s a whole lot better.

Fisch brought in a few of his key guys from Arizona that he didn’t land last year. He has a budding superstar in quarterback Demond Williams Jr., the receiving corps got a boost, and how Washington was as competitive as it was with no pass rush whatsoever was amazing.

Get ready for everyone to underestimate the Huskies this season. Get ready for a push for the same four-win bump from Year One to Year Two that Arizona experienced under Fisch.
