2025 began with the devastating wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes in California. The January disaster displaced many families, which is something that new Duke quarterback Darian Mensah has decided to try and help with

The transfer from Tulane grew up in the area most affected by the wildfires, so he is using his platform to team up with Single Moms Planet to help some of the misfortunate.

“I knew I had to find a way to give back,” said Mensah. “I wanted to take a moment to talk about an organization I’m partnering with, Single Moms Planet. This is important to me because seeing the way my mom worked hard for us, it just made me want to give back to other single moms that need the help.”

Together, Single Moms Planet and Mensah, are working to ensure that single mothers and their children receive the resources, mentorship and financial support they need during such a difficult time. This is an especially personal endeavor for Mensah, who was raised by his mother, Naomi Brebes-Mensah, along with his twin sister and two other siblings.

There are many negative stories regarding NIL, but this is one that shows that good can also come of it.
