Watch: Bru McCoy Progressing From Surgery

Tennessee wide receiver Bru McCoy suffered a season-ending injury against South Carolina. McCoy underwent surgery for a fracture on a dislocated ankle, ending his season almost as abruptly as it began. There was a question on whether that would be the last time McCoy would don Tennessee's orange and white, but he opted to return to school for his final season of eligibility.

McCoy released a video of himself running on a treadmill on Tuesday, steadily working his way back into football form a few months after his surgery. McCoy is understandably excited about playing with quarterback Nico Iamaleava in 2023 - the redshirt freshman accounted for four touchdowns in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl and has a downfield style that meshes well with McCoy's skillset.

In 2022, McCoy was one of Tennessee's top playmakers on the outside. He amassed 52 catches for 667 yards and four touchdowns on one of college football's top offenses. McCoy will attempt to return to that form in 2024, and he's projected to be their top returning option on offense. We'll see how he continues to progress throughout the offseason, but there's optimism that McCoy will be a full participant in fall practices.
