
The No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders took no prisoners in the second half of their Big 12 Champsionship matchup against the No. 11 BYU Cougars on Saturday, winning the battle 34-7.
While the first half was competitive, Texas Tech’s defense forced four second-half turnovers and took all the momentum from BYU.
Saturday’s victory ensured the Red Raiders a bye in the College Football Playoff while securing the first Big 12 title in school history.
An untimely interception thrown by BYU’s Bear Bachmeier in the third quarter allowed Texas Tech to extend their lead to 14.
In the fourth quarter, Texas Tech’s defense forced several more BYU turnovers to hold on to their lead.
Red Raiders QB Behren Morton finished the game with 215 passing yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception. If he continues to play well and the Red Raiders remain consistent, they have a real shot at winning the national championship.
