No. 3 Ohio State will open the 2025 college football season against No. 1 Texas on Aug. 30.
The massive Week 1 home opener has no shortage of intriguing storylines. It will feature Lee Corso's final ESPN GameDay headgear pick, Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin's first collegiate start, quarterback Arch Manning's debut as the full-time starter for the Longhorns, and a rematch of last year's College Football Playoff semifinal.
The hype surrounding this matchup is warranted, and most eyes will be on the two quarterbacks. Manning's name needs no introduction, but Sayin is extremely talented in his own right. The Carlsbad (California) product was ranked the No. 1 quarterback in the nation for the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports composite.
After briefly enrolling at Alabama, Sayin entered the NCAA transfer portal in January of 2024 and committed to Ohio State just days later. He was officially announced the Buckeyes starting quarterback last week after sitting behind Will Howard on the depth chart last year.
Now that Sayin is officially declared the starting quarterback for a powerhouse program in college football, what is his NIL worth? According to On3's NIL Valuation, Sayin sits at $1.1 million.
If he performs well throughout the first few games of the season, Sayin's NIL Valuation will likely skyrocket. As of now, he has over 50 college athletes ahead of him in terms of NIL value. The quarterback Sayin is facing on Saturday, Manning, is No. 1 in the nation. Beating him would be a fantastic start to get the cash flow rolling in off-the-field.
