Keon Sabb feels the Alabama Crimson Tide’s secondary can be the best in the country with the amount of talent returning, along with some key additions.
Sabb did not mince words or hesitate when asked how good the Tide’s secondary could be on Monday.
“Best in the country,” Sabb said.
The New Jersey native then dove into what it would take for Alabama to live up to this high standard.
“Consistency, can you do it each and every snap?” Sabb said when asked what would be key for Alabama to have the best secondary in college football. “Like I said before, so once we get to that point where I felt like we were close last year, I feel like we’ll take it to that next step this year.”
While Sabb feels the Tide could eventually have the best group of defensive backs in the country, he does not feel they are there yet after Alabama’s first spring scrimmage. Communication will play a key role in Sabb and company achieving this goal, and this is an area Sabb would like to see the Tide improve in.
“Obviously, I didn’t think it was up to the standard, but it was pretty good,” Sabb said. “Obviously, we’re looking forward to just keep getting better, continue to grow throughout the scrimmages.”
Alabama returns Sabb, Bray Hubbard, Dijon Lee, Red Morgan and Zavier Mincey as players who have at least one collegiate start under their belt. Ivan Taylor, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and Chuck McDonald are returning as options to possibly provide trusted depth.
The Tide went into the transfer portal to add Carmelo O’Neal to pair with the additions of its freshmen defensive backs.
