Where Arch Manning Lands in Latest Quarterback Rankings for 2025

The Texas Longhorns will enter the 2025 college football season with one of the top quarterbacks in the country.

Former five-star quarterback Arch Manning is currently preparing for his first season as the full-time starter at Texas. The New Orleans native spent the last two seasons in Austin developing behind former Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers.

While Manning only has two career starts under his belt, he shined each opportunity he was given on the field with his legs, arms and leadership. Many college football analysts expect him to be in the running for the Heisman Trophy this year and potentially the No. 1 quarterback prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft.

However, in CBS Sports' latest quarterback rankings , Tom Fornelli believes Manning has more to prove before he is crowned the top signal-caller in college football. Manning landed at No. 3 in Fornelli's ranking behind Clemson's Cade Klubnik and Penn State's Drew Allar.

"We didn't see much of Arch last year, but we saw enough to justify the immense recruiting hype," Fornelli said. "Listen, you may think I have him too high, but I felt all last season that Texas wasn't using him as much as it should've been; Steve Sarkisian was being too respectful to Quinn Ewers. I fully believe giving Manning the keys to the Texas offense in 2025 will lead to a better product than the one we saw in 2024, and that team got to the CFP semis."

Miami's Carson Beck, LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, Baylor's Sawyer Robertson, Illinois' Luke Altmyer, South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers, New Mexico's Devon Dampier and Florida's DJ Lagway were also included in Fornelli's quarterback ranking.

We'll see if Manning and the Longhorns can live up to the high expectations when they open the season against Ohio State on Aug. 30.
