Notre Dame football got the 2024 season off to a fast start this past weekend, defeating No. 20 Texas A&M 23 to 13 on the road. That was a tremendous opening season performance from the Irish, who kicked off their third season under head coach Marcus Freeman.
Now the next challenge kicks off on Saturday at 3:30 PM Eastern Time, when the Irish welcome the Northern Illinois Huskies (1-0) to Notre Dame stadium. The big theme of this matchup: Don’t mess around and ruin any momentum. You are the better team than Northern Illinois, so leave no doubt.
Kickoff: 3:30 p.m., Sep. 7; Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, Indiana
Where to watch: NBC, Peacock

Northern Illinois kicks off what should be a very easy three-game stretch for Notre Dame. That gives the Irish offense a chance to demonstrate improvements, especially on the offensive line and in the passing game. The Husky defense is nothing special, and Notre Dame should be able to dominate.
On defense, Northern Illinois presents an interesting matchup. Running back Antario Brown will get a lot of the conversation, but the offense has several notable playmakers. That includes wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph and tight end Grayson Barnes. Their quarterback Ethan Hampton is also a good player, who can cause issues if you aren’t focused.
