Who will be Alabama’s 'green dot' players in new college football rule?

A new rule is in college football, and it is one that removes signals and plays on poster boards.

In attempts to prevent sign stealing, helmet communication has arrived. Offensive and defensive coordinators can call plays into the helmet of their main players through “green dot” communication. The player who has a green decal on the back of his helmet is the one coordinator can get the play too. It is in that player’s responsibility to relay the call to everyone else on the field.

This should change should make communication better, especially in loud environments.

Alabama fans are interesting on who will be its green dot players. Kalen DeBoer stated in Wednesday’s airing of “Hey Coach” that Jalen Milroe (quarterback) and Deontae Lawson (inside linebacker) are the players. Nick Sheridan, Alabama’s offensive coordinator, will communicate with Milroe while Kane Wommack (defensive coordinator) will communicate to Lawson.

DeBoer will listen on the headset as the calls go through. 

Wommack has other players defensively that can be green dot players — including Jihaad Campbell, Malachi Moore, and Keon Sabb — but he is going with Lawson for Saturday against Western Kentucky.
