Alabama football’s superstar sophomore wide receiver, Ryan Williams did not go home this offseason when the team had some time off.

Williams chose to spend a significant portion of the summer inside the Crimson Tide’s practice facilities instead, finding ways to get bigger, faster and stronger. This commitment by the second-year receiver comes after he established himself as one of college football’s best wideouts in 2024. He reeled in 48 receptions for a team-high 865 receiving yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman last season.

Alabama football’s head coach Kalen DeBoer shined a light on the sacrifices Williams has made as of late at SEC Media Days.

“I’m excited about the way he’s attacked it ,” DeBoer told the SEC Radio Network. “In the month of May, a lot of guys and a lot of our team, that’s their one chance where they can go home. He stayed. He stayed in Tuscaloosa. He wants to get stronger. He’s gotten stronger. He wants to be more durable for the long haul and yeah he played all season long but there’s even football injuries. There are dings that you have and for a freshman that wears on you more than it does when you built up through years of training. So, he’s been pushing hard and from a training standpoint, obviously he continues to work on his skills. He loves the game.”

Williams enters his sophomore season with even higher expectations.
